Responsibilities
The candidate will have a key role in articulating for clients the strategic role analytics and effective data management can play in high-stakes decisions. The candidate is expected to:
- Profile source data from a variety of disparate sources and platforms
- Design ETL processes to integrate disparate data into consolidated, user-friendly data warehouses and data marts
- Assess and augment data quality
- Design, test, and maintain data architecture(s) and platform configurations to ensure optimal “fit with purpose”. For example, one data architecture may be required to publish insights to web applications, whereas another architecture may be optimal to enable more advanced analysis
- Design transformation methodologies from disparate data sources which ensure accurate, optimally descriptive metrics for analysis.
Activities
- Manage data transformation processes to ensure:
- Clear requirements for data structure and access tools (to enable effective analysis)
- Generate creative approaches to data sourcing and gap filling
- Data Governance: participate in development and enforcement of data usage standards
Skills and Knowledge Required:
- Knowledge of data transformation processes including:
- Designing data structures and database schemas to support analytical goals
- Transforming raw data sets into those schemas
- Use established best practices to audit and ensure data quality
- Experience extending MSOffice products with VBA preferred
- Ability to work independently and under close supervision
- Knowledge of financial services concepts
Candidate Experience:
The ideal candidate has experience in one of more of many areas that require familiarity with manipulating large datasets:
- At least 2 years experience as a database programmer / developer
- Experience with database modeling
- Financial Institutions: Experience with financial budgeting, personal finance, and/or mortgage and real estate investment
